Wash rags for Serene Harbor
Next week, the week of June 15th, we will be collecting wash rags (wash cloths as some people call them) for Serene Harbor. New and used are both fine and appreciated.
For over 20 years, Serene Harbor has offered safe refuge and provided life changing services to more than 25,000 women and children who were victims of domestic violence in our community. Their vision is a community that is educated about and welcoming to victims of domestic violence and their needs. Their mission is to be a leading advocate for reducing the incidence of domestic violence in Brevard County through intervention, prevention, social change, information, enlightenment, education and engagement of the community. You can read more about them on their website here.
Here at Space Girl Organics we believe that all of us, working together can make big changes in a our community and our world. Each week we collect an item of the week to benefit those in needs. If you have it to donate simply leave it out for us on your delivery day. When we pick up your produce we will it up and get it distributed to those in need.
I was inspired to start the item of the week program after visiting a local shelter years ago and feeling the deep desire to help. I thought about it and realized that our lives are hectic and it is not realistic to think that people will drive to the shelter to drop off, say, one toothbrush. However, if all you had to do was put it outside your door on your delivery day, then yes, people are kind and giving, and would donate. Then, since we are already coming by to drop off your produce it would be easy peasy for us to pick it up. Voila! That single toothbrush that you donated, put together with the ones your fellow customers donated just became hundreds!
Through our item of the week program you have touched hundreds of lives, been a resource when places like the Ronald McDonald house are running low on something, and inspired others to give a little to do great things! From the bottom of my heart, I want you to know how much I truly appreciate your small acts of kindness and the big difference they make!!!
