Three Main Types Of Peaches
Have you ever wondered why sometimes your peach pits come out cleanly but other times they don’t? Don’t worry, it’s not you, and it’s nothing to do with whether the peach is ripe or not. It’s all to do with the actual peach.
There are three main types of peaches. Clingstone varieties are the messy ones. But they’re also the sweetest, juiciest ones. They’re best for eating raw, but be prepared to wash your hands after! Freestone peaches have pits that are easy to remove. They’re low in sugar, and they’re firmer, so they’re perfect for baking. And then there are hybrid semi-freestone peaches which have the best of both: sweet and juicy but easy to eat.
If you want to know more about peaches, here’s peach expert Desmond Layne.
Peaches can be tricky sometimes. One day they’re hard, next day they’re all mushy. Here’s Desmond again telling you how to tell when they’re ready to eat.
