This August: Help Space Girl Organics Support Boys Town!
From Lucinda.
A few weeks ago an article about children in America came across my desk. It was about child abuse, neglect, and hunger right here the the USA. I was heartbroken and brought to tears. I reached out to Christine, the head of our Random Acts of Kindness Department, and asked her to find how we could most help. One of your fellow customers chimed up because she works with Boys Town Central Florida. We immediately sent produce over but we want to do more. So, this month we will be collecting our item of the week and sending them over to Boys Town. If we all do a little, together, we can accomplish great things and have a lasting impact on those in our community.Their list is on the bottom of this post, and I will be putting it in the weekly newsletter as well.
Boys Town Central Florida is an organization that works to combat child abuse and neglect by providing community support services for local area at-risk children. The services provided by Boys Town touch the lives of 7,600 children and families in Central Florida each year.
Boys Town runs several live-in group homes for at-risk children in the area. Meridith, one of our wonderful customers at Space Girl Organics is a case worker at one of the Boys Town residential homes. Recently, Meridith has been working with us to provide organic produce from Space Girl Organics to the children in the home. The children are loving their farm fresh produce! We are so happy with the positive reports back from Meridith about the boys happily snacking on fruits and veggies and wanting to cook with their produce.
Boys Town will be Space Girl Organics featured charity this August!
Here is how you can help:
The local Boys Town residential homes are in need of personal hygiene items. During the month of August, we will be collecting hygiene items when we deliver your produce. Please leave them out for us and we will make sure they get to the kids at the Boys Town group homes.
