One of my favorite ground beef recipes is taco salad! But don’t just limit yourself to lettuce. You can be creative and use your taco meat over any of your Space Girl Organics veggies. Last night, I had a taco salad with sauteed kale and squash from my produce box. It was so good!
I make my own taco seasoning. Store bought taco seasoning generally contains several types of sugars, preservatives and chemicals. Beyond that, in my opinion, homemade taco seasoning tastes so much better! Here is the recipe I use. I use organic spices when available.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
This makes about 3 tablespoons of taco seasoning. For pan frying taco meat, brown the meat and then drain it. Use 3 tablespoons of this mix per pound of meat and 2/3 cup of water. Mix well and let simmer in the pan until water is reduced.
