Ham and Vegetable Soup (crock pot or stove top)

I was looking for a hearty soup to make today to keep my cold Florida body warm. (It was in the 50s today!) This was super duper easy and used one of my favorite appliances – the crockpot!
1/2 head of cabbage
7 cups chicken broth (boxed, canned or homemade)
1 zucchini, diced
1 head of broccolini, chopped
20 mini carrots
1 ham bone
1 ham steak, chopped into bite sized pieces
1 bay leaf
Place all ingredients in the slow cooker. Add bay leaf for two hours, then toss out. Cook on low all day. Approx. 6-8 hours.
