Cranberry, Kale, Strawberry, Banana Smoothie
A guest post from customer Lynne:
I love starting my day with a frosty, refreshing and healthy smoothie! I’m happy to have the opportunity to share my best smoothie recipe with the Space Girl Organics community.
Two of my favorite smoothie ingredients are green kale and fresh cranberries. I know that might sound odd, but it truly is as delicious as it is nutritious. The kale adds an earthy, green freshness and the cranberries add a hint of tartness to balance the sweetness of the other fruits.
Ingredients:
¼ c. fresh or frozen organic cranberries
½ organic banana
1 c. frozen organic strawberries
2 leaves of fresh organic green kale
1 teaspoon ground organic flax seed (optional)
1 c. organic vanilla soy milk (or other non-dairy milk)
½ to 1 c. water or organic juice to process, as needed
Directions:
Add the solid ingredients into the blender first, and then add the liquid.
Process on high until the ingredients are blended into a smooth consistency. I add water to help my blender process the ingredients, but the need to do so depends on the power of your blender. You can add more soy milk or fruit juice, such as organic acai berry or cranberry juice, in lieu of water if you prefer. This makes a thin-thick smoothie, but you can use frozen banana and cranberries to make it thick-thick. I serve mine in a pretty glass and drink it with a straw.
For me, this recipe makes one serving, but it actually can serve up to four people. You can mix it up and add a variety of ingredients, depending on what’s in your produce box. Some of my go to ingredients include: spinach, pomegranate seeds, mango, blue berries, raspberries or any other berry, fresh or frozen. I also like to add raw hemp seeds or nuts for some extra protein. Be creative and enjoy!
